TantrumsOk-where to start? From the time our children are born until they start talking, they cry for everything they need&we give them whatever it is they want, to stop the crying. Then, when they start talking, we want them to "use their words" instead of the whinning for what they want.I can understand where it could be hard for them to break this cycle.Heck, they have been crying for everything they want and it worked for them, so I bet in their minds, they are wondering why they should stop. So, what do we do as parents? A technique taught where I work is "planned ignoring," when a child is acting out-that works on days where my patience level is at its highest but if not, what do I do? My daughter is about to be 2-I don't think she understands timeouts and spankin her little thigh isn't working much either(actually, my Mom says by spanking her, I am teaching her to hit-which I don't agree.) I think her sassiness is a girl thing because even as an adult, I am pretty sassy myself but what advice can you give on tantrums?I am fresh out of ideas!
